“I dwell in the city and the city dwells in me.”
–Juhani Pallasmaa
I have always lived in the city. Its complexities reside deeply within me. A city imposes its will on its inhabitants. It paces their movement, can separate their interactions, and can be overwhelming in scale. Where some see only its structures and hard surfaces, I see the city as through a prism, exerting a wide spectrum of influences. It can be challenging and enlightening, demanding and energizing, impersonal and protective. I present my images as visual metaphors for a whole range of vivid and compelling aspects of city life.
